There is more than one way to make Jollof rice, and this method is for those who love it extra saucy, smoky, and packed with depth. By adding tomato paste to Adom’s pre-seasoned Ready-to-Cook Classic Jollof Rice Mix, you’re layering even more flavor into an already delicious meal. It’s quick, easy, and delivers that rich, home-cooked taste in under 25 minutes.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED (Serves 2-3):

1 pouch of Adom Classic Jollof Rice Mix
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons tomato paste
3 cups water
Optional: mixed vegetables, or cooked protein (e.g., grilled chicken, shrimp, tofu)

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

Heat Oil & Fry Tomato Paste: In a medium saucepan, heat 3 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of tomato paste and sauté for 2–3 minutes, stirring continuously to reduce sharpness and bring out the natural sweetness.

Toast the Rice Mix: Add the entire Adom Jollof Rice Mix into the tomato paste mixture. Stir thoroughly and let it toast for 2 more minutes to deepen the flavor.

Add Water & Bring to Boil: Pour in 3 cups of water and stir to combine everything. Bring to a gentle boil.

Simmer Gently: Reduce heat to low, cover the pot tightly, and simmer for 15–20 minutes. About halfway through, open and stir once to ensure all spices and tomato are evenly distributed.

Rest the Rice: Once the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender, turn off the heat. Keep the pot covered and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Fluff & Serve: Fluff with a fork and serve warm. It pairs beautifully with fried plantains, coleslaw, or your favorite protein.

CHEF’S TIP:
If you like heat, make sure to use the Spicy variant of the Adom Jollof Rice Mix. Prefer a milder experience? Go for the Mild variant — both deliver bold, authentic flavor, just with different heat levels to suit your taste.

Want that party-style taste in minutes? This method brings it to your table — smoky, rich, and unmistakably Adom.
